FINDING SPACE TO WORK FROM HOME

If there has ever been a time where finding an inspiring space to work from home was important, it is now. Thankfully, most students have returned to school, but the Cover-19 Pandemic created a situation where multiple family members had to find a dedicated work space within the home. Even now, I encounter clients who only work from home part-time, but want to feel happy and productive in the home work environment. Many of my clients live in compact spaces in the city, and it can be a challenge to create zones in the home to address all of their functional needs, particularly when there are multiple family members, and additional needs, such as a dedicated home workout space. It takes some really creative thinking to maximize every inch of usable square footage. I love the example in the image above from Designmilk.com, because it utilizes a hall niche that would normally only have a plant or a console table. by adding a floating desk surface, it allows you to take advantage of a formerly unused spot in the home. Having a window view while working is so desirable, and with this “paperless” world that most of us live in, sometimes all you need is a sturdy surface to set up a laptop computer. If you do have storage needs, there will still be space for desk top files or rolling file drawers. I’ll share links to two of my favorite options that are both beautiful and provide great storage!
